Like honey from the rock. (Psalm 81:16)

Not everyone in the neighbourhood likes Mrs. McCorkindale. You may ask how this can be so. How could anyone possibly dislike Mrs. McCorkindale? She is so nice, always helping people and looking after those in need. People who have got to know her say she is so sweet, like honey from the rock.

Let us first have a look at who might take comfort from Mrs. McCorkindale. Let’s examine who might find a relationship with her stories to be supportive and even life changing. Those on the margins of society, or who feel excluded somehow, are the first who believe Mrs. McCorkindale has something to say to them. Then there are those who are oppressed by the status quo, that is, those who long for change to happen and justice to occur in their lifetime. Finally, there are those who seek a deeper spirituality and wish their faith to be connected with the realities of life.

So who would have difficulty with Mrs. McCorkindale? Are they those who would not be happy with change or justice or inclusion for certain folk?

Mrs. McCorkindale continues to live in the neighbourhood, having an effect on everyone else who lives there. Some people like her and some don’t because they all have a definite reaction to who she is and what she brings out in people. People respond to her with either love or hate, but never with indifference. That’s just the way it is.
