A seasonal staple, the festival of nine lessons and carols has been celebrated at Anglican Churches and Cathedrals for well over 100 years. This year, the readings and music will be chosen to highlight characters in the Christmas narrative: Mary, Joseph, Herod, shepherds, angels, animals, and Magi.
As always, the service opens with a lone chorister, singing the beginning of the greatest story ever told: “Once in Royal David’s city stood a lowly cattle shed...” Freewill offering.
