There’s nothing quite like a spooky gothic cathedral and a giant pipe organ to get you into the All-Hallows’ spirit. On October 26 Christ Church Cathedral is pleased to welcome back international concert organist, David Briggs, who will, out of thin air, improvise a musical soundtrack to the 1931 classic film, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Improvising musical scores for silent films is a rare talent these days but David Briggs, described by the New York Times as “…one of the world's greatest contemporary organists…” will make spectacular use of the 4,000 pipes in the Cathedral’s organ – one of the largest pipe organs on the west coast.

“The thing I love about presenting silent film screenings with organ music is that they appeal to so many different people for so many reasons,” says Donald Hunt, Christ Church Cathedral’s Director of Music. “At our last screening we welcomed cinema buffs, organ and classical music lovers, and lots of fun Halloween costumes – We were all brought together for an incredible evening of entertainment. I can’t wait to repeat that again!”
