In compliance with the BC provincial health officer’s November 19 order, the Diocese of British Columbia has suspended all in-person public worship and community gatherings until at least December 7, 2020. At the cathedral, this means that we will need to make a return to livestreaming our services without an in-person congregation, and the way we host events and meetings will change.
See below for further information on these temporary changes.
Sunday services will be livestreamed online without an in-person congregation. We will continue to offer two services each Sunday, a Liturgy of the Word at 10.30 am and Choral Evensong at 4.00 pm. Both services will be livestreamed on our website and Facebook page. An online “coffee hour” on the Zoom video meeting platform will follow the 10.30 am service. Links to the coffee hour meeting link can be found on the Events page on the website.
Regrettably, the Tuesday morning prayer service and cathedral visiting hours are suspended until further notice.
In-person concerts have also been suspended until at least December 7, 2020. The following performances are affected by the latest provincial order:
Portraits: Strangled by Growth (Emily Carr String Quartet)
Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 4.00 pm and 7.30 pm
The 4.00 pm performance is cancelled. The 7.30 pm performance will be a livestream event with no in-person audience. Ticket holders may request a full refund by following the instructions in their Eventbrite ticket receipt email. If you require assistance, contact frontdesk@christchurchcathedral.bc.ca.
Ticket holders can also donate the proceeds of their ticket to support the performers and the music program at Christ Church Cathedral. To donate your ticket and receive a tax receipt, email frontdesk@christchurchcathedral.bc.ca with your mailing address (for CRA receipt purposes) and specify that you would like to donate your ticket.
The 7.30 pm concert will be livestreamed at www.christchurchcathedral.bc.ca/live
Winter Dreams I and II (VSMF WinterFest 20/21)
Friday December 4, 2020 at 4.00 pm and 7.00 pm
Saturday December 5, 2020 at 4.00 pm and 7.00 pm
These performances are postponed until a future date. The names of current ticket holders will automatically be added to the ticket holders list for the rescheduled concerts. Alternatively, ticket holders may request a full refund by following the instructions in their Eventbrite ticket receipt email. If you require assistance, contact frontdesk@christchurchcathedral.bc.ca.
The Cathedral Offices remain open but those staff who can work from home have been encouraged to do so. While there will often be someone working on site at the cathedral offices, it will be safest to call ahead before dropping by (250-383-2714). Please note that masks are now required in all indoor public spaces on the cathedral precinct.
