BC Provincial Medical Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has issued new restrictions around travel and social gatherings. Following similar measures taken in other jurisdictions, gatherings of over 250 people are now required to be cancelled.
Whilst not all our concerts will necessarily attract more than this threshold of attendees, we strongly feel that it is in everybody’s best interest to cancel or postpone all cathedral music events up until at least May 15, 2020. Cancellation information on the affected events is outlined below:
Saturday, March 14: “Music and Majesty,” Uvic Vocal Students
This concert will continue as a live-stream event only. More details to come.
Sunday, March 22: “Bach Motets,” Raincoast Voices
This concert is postponed until further notice. We will announce a new date for this event once we have a better understanding of the long-term impacts of the situation. Any tickets purchased already will still be honoured or may be refunded with proof of purchase at the Cathedral Office (930 Burdett Avenue). Tickets holders who purchased their tickets online should contact TicketRocket (1.855.842.7575) to have their tickets refunded.
Wednesday, April 15: “Notre-Dame: Cornerstone of Western Music”
This concert is postponed until further notice. We will announce a new date for this event once we have a better understanding of the long-term impacts of the situation
Saturday, May 9: “Intimate Encounters: The Musical Republic”
This concert is postponed until further notice. We will announce a new date for this event once we have a better understanding of the long-term impacts of the situation. Any tickets purchased already will still be honoured or may be refunded with proof of purchase at the Cathedral Office (930 Burdett Avenue). Tickets holders who purchased their tickets online should contact TicketRocket (1.855.842.7575) to have their tickets refunded.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING TICKET REFUNDS
Music at Christ Church Cathedral is prepared to offer a full refund for the ticket price (minus our ticket agency’s handling fee). You can do this by bringing your ticket (or proof of purchase) to the cathedral’s offices on 930 Burdett Avenue. This applies to all paper tickets, including those sold at Ivy’s and Munro’s Bookstores. Please do not try to obtain a refund from Ivy’s or Munro’s bookstores directly. Tickets holders who purchased their tickets online should contact TicketRocket (1.855.842.7575) to have their tickets refunded less the agency’s handling fee.
The cathedral’s management will continue to monitor this situation closely and we will keep you informed as to when large public gatherings can resume. We are exploring ways to continue to offer musical programming through our online channels. Connect with us on Facebook for all the latest updates.
In the meantime, music remains a tonic for the soul, and we will continue to offer as beautiful and robust a program as we can.
