At the Lunch and Learn: Refugee Experiences session on Thursday, June 1st, Gregor Craigie from CBC Radio interviewed three newcomers (former refugees) to Canada. The three, one from Eritrea, one from Congo, and one from Syria, shared some of their stories. Questions they were asked included how they came to Canada, what support they had when they arrived, and whether they ever regretted coming. All three said that Canada had become their home. Listening to them, the courage, stamina and resilience it takes to flee from violence and persecution, and to leave all you know to start a new life in a new land, was solidly reinforced. It also brought home how very blessed we are to live here in Canada! Joan Duckett
